Painting Series on the Collective Unconscious
The genesis of this project can be traced back to a captivating moment of curiosity during my visits to art supply stores. Amidst the vibrant array of mediums, I discovered an enchanting world of scribbles left behind by individuals testing various colors. These spontaneous creations immediately captured my attention with their intricate visual compositions. Each drawing possesses an awe-inspiring interplay of colors and patterns, made possible by the limitless palette of hues and mediums available on the tablets. However, what truly fascinated me was the collaborative nature of these scribbles—an unintentional symphony of anonymous contributors, each adding their unique touch to the evolving canvas
Motivated by this unexpected artistic impulse, I embarked on a quest to collect these seemingly worthless forgotten treasures. Establishing connections with the passionate individuals who worked at these stores, I arranged to retrieve their discarded papers regularly, rescuing them from the fate of oblivion. At first, I did not know precisely what I would do with these fragments of creativity. Nevertheless, I diligently collected and scanned them every two weeks over the past six months.
Over the course of my continued exploration, I found myself delving into the profound realm of Carl Jung’s archetypes and the collective unconscious. Jung’s groundbreaking theory suggests that these universal archetypes manifest themselves through dreams, visions, and moments when our conscious mind fades into the background. These archetypal narratives have woven their way into the tapestry of history, appearing across cultures, myths, religions, and stories. Intrigued by the depths of the unconscious psyche, I began documenting my dreams, revisiting drawings from my tender years as a three-year-old child, and engaging in discussions with my aunt, a respected psychologist.
It was during this profound introspection that I discovered an unexpected connection to the collected papers of artistic testers. Hypothesizing that these scribbles were born from an almost unconscious state, devoid of predetermined intentions, I surmised they might offer glimpses into the enigmatic realm of the unconscious. Moreover, since the creators likely did not assign substantial value to their spontaneous drawings, nor had any intention of sharing them, their conscious egos would not have hindered the free flow of unconscious thoughts. This intriguing possibility opened a doorway to an uncharted territory of untapped inspiration.
